Kebur Community Garden – 2021!
Each year, a garden materials company based in Farnborough – KEBUR – sponsor a local community garden project by donating £2,000 in materials.
Having come so far over the last 12 months of lockdown – it had given us the perfect opportunity to get all the necessary policies and procedures in place – the time had come to make the garden ready for our first teens of 2021.
Garden Manager, Helen Chester, came up with her vision for the garden and, assisted by advisory committee member (and owner of Bushy Business Gardens) Chris Stone, a plan was put together to define the infrastructure that would underpin the whole project.
In the way that the powers of the universe often collide, this came at the exact same time that we became aware of the amazing KEBUR funding opportunity. We were able to quickly fulfill their requirements of having real clarity about what we wanted to achieve, combined with a very clear ‘wish list’ of garden materials that we needed to achieve it. So, with everyone’s fingers and toes duly crossed, we submitted our proposal a day before the deadline.
Then, on Friday 28th May, live on BBC Surrey our founder, Tone Tellefsen-Hughes, received the wonderful news that we had won!!
Speaking on behalf of Kebur Garden Materials, Marketing Manager Jo Holtom commented, “The judges chose Green Hub garden project because of the huge impact it should have for young people facing particular challenges at the moment.”
