Would you like to join the Green Hub team at FCG?

We are excited to have forged an new alliance with the team at Farncombe Community Garden. We have visited twice this year and it really is the most extraordinary space. The work you have all done is extraordinary – what a wonderful addition to the local community.

We are in discussions with Broadwater School and hope to have a cohort of their students starting in January in your garden. The teens we support struggle with mental health challenges – many are not able to get into school for all or some of the time, and having a place of sanctuary during the week can make such a difference.

We would so love if some of the Farncombe Community Garden team decided to join Green Hub and become part of our garden team. Our volunteers make such a difference to the teens, by sharing their passion for nature, gently guiding and supporting them in garden and craft sessions. We are definitely NOT asking you to provide any sort of therapy – the garden IS the therapy! You’ll find it incredibly rewarding.

What’s involved:

  • We’ll ask for 2 references.
  • As well as DBS clearance.
  • There is probably approximately 4 – 6 hours of training (video modules) – things like safeguarding, garden safety, teen mental health awareness etc,
  • You’ll even get a smart Green Hub polo shirt and hoodie for your trouble!
  • We ask that you support a couple of sessions per half term, or thereabouts – you get to say which sessions you are available for.

Karen and Helen have suggested two possible slots – Wednesday mornings or Friday afternoons – and we can’t really commit until we have spoken with the school. So, if you are interested in joining Green Hub, can you complete the web form below, indicating whether you can help with Wednesdays, Fridays – or both. This will definitely help to inform our decision making.

Huge thanks for your support.
