The last three months have involved a flurry of intense activity, getting Green Hub moved into our new home at Station House, Witley Railway Station.

In addition to all the furniture donations – all of which were moved due the efforts of our army of willing volunteers – there has been our valiant team of ‘handymen’ (John, Nick, Charlie, Duncan, Dan, Cameron & Jacob) who have fixed, constructed and painted. Plus the builders Tom and Peter, as well as electrician George and sign fixer John.

Then there was the garden project, turning an overgrown wilderness into the start of the beautiful wellbeing garden, for the benefit of local folk.

It has involved a lot of people and a lot of hard work al round. Which is why we wanted to celebrate – and so, on Friday September 5th, we did exactly that.

We were honoured to welcome the Mayor of Waverley, Cllr Penny Rivers, Cllr Paul Follows, Cllr John Robini, all of whom assisted with funding, via Surrey County Council, with their guests Cllr Paul Rivers, Cllr Jacquie Keen.

Plus we were delighted to have the company of Paula Aldridge, Community Manager at South Western Railway, along with Paul Webster from the Community Rail Network, both of whom have been responsible for assisting us with funding. We presented Rob Foot of Octavius Infrastructure with one of our very special Gnomes, thanking him for having found Station House for us.

In case you missed it, here’s the 30 second version of the Grand Opening!!

After a patchy week of weather leading up to the event, on the day the early evening sunshine shone through. With a delicious display of food from the team at Hambledon Village Shop, plenty of bubbly, speeches and the climax then the Mayor of Waverley cut the ribbon and declared Station House open.

It’s been an exciting time – now to focus on our core purpose, supporting young people in Surrey, Waverley and surrounding areas. Having our staff team comfortably housed in our fab new offices is going to make that job so much easier.
