The Green Hub held its first ever AGM on Sunday 3rd September. It was a well attended meeting with members of the committee, volunteers, and teen participants gathering in the secluded Milford garden.
The committee reported on a fantastic first year during which the garden has been transformed from a weed ridden wilderness, to a functional, therapeutic space complete with green house, raised fruit and vegetable beds and herb labyrinth.
In addition
- 25 teens have completed the in-garden program
- Research demonstrates a 25% mood uplift /anxiety release by those teens
- A further 100 parents and teens benefitted from the Teen Talk program
- £12k has been raised from events, sponsorship and grants most notably from Kebur Garden Supplies, Godalming Town Council and Community Foundation Surrey
- There has been huge support from numerous local businesses
- The supporters database risen from 22 to 920 contacts
- The initial 6 volunteers have become 46 volunteers
The meeting heard about the importance the committee places on measuring the impact of its work with teens, and discussions took place about how this can, and will be done going forward. Plans for the garden itself were also discussed. These include an improved shelter for winter use, creating more space for more planting and introducing improved craft provision.
To build on this amazing success, and help more teens with crippling anxiety, we need more help especially on the administration side.
