When we began to reveal the amazing Station Master’s garden at Witley Station – it felt more like an archaeological dig than a gardening exercise! – we knew there was so much more we could do, than simply making the space look pretty.
The project took on a life of its own, and resulted in the Green Hub Wellbeing Garden at Witley Station. A project that was driven by our adult volunteers – safety and safeguarding concerns meant that running our normal teen sessions there isn’t an option. But we did so want our teens to have their voice heard there.
Which i why we decided to create an art project, completely created by some of our teens, under the direction of a local artist, Sarah Rawlins.
The project began in late April ’26, and was completed over 5 sessions in the weeks ahead – it was finished just in time to be unveiled at our 5th Birthday Party on June 14th.
Introducing FIVE
Inspired by the Five Ways to Wellbeing, eight teenage artists created our magnificent artwork, FIVE.
Supported by Sarah Rawlins, a local artist, the teens expressed their interpretations of the ‘5 ways’ in their own unique styles.
- Max Beling (13) – ‘Taking notice’
- Bethany Chaplin (16) – ‘Being active’
- Phoebe Curtis (17) – ‘Keep leaarning’
- Ava Denford (16) – ‘Being active’
- Amelia Griffiths (16) – ‘Connect’ & ‘Green border’
- Jessica Ragless (14) – ‘Keep leaarning’
- Isla Sirman (12) – ‘Connect’ & ‘Green border’
- Elisa Smith (16) – ‘Give’
The elements were brought together into the finished artwork by graphic designer, Neil Phillips.
During our birthday party, Cllr Penny Rivers was delighted to unveil the artwork for the first time to the public. All of our teens were there to enjoy the moment and soak up the plaudits – all fully deserved. sadly, our lovely artist Sarah Rawlins couldn’t be there, but joined us from Canada on Facetime!
