When we started talking about what was to become Green Hub back in 2020, there were 8 people involved. We now have 90 volunteers. We’ve understood two really important things about volunteers in the five years that have followed …
That volunteers simply do what they do for the love of it. It’s not glamorous. There’s no public acclaim. Many volunteers turn up throughout the year, in all weathers. Others work from home, with little obvious support or resources. Yet still they do it.
And that, by putting volunteers at the heart of what Green Hub stands for, we create a powerful community-led initiative that shares peoples skills and passion with young people who desperately need their support. Our volunteers are making a REAL and tangible difference.
So, the simple act of saying ‘thank you’, whilst inadequate in so many ways, is the very least we can do to acknowledge the extraordinary work that our volunteers do. And we were delighted to do this on September 3rd, 2026 at The Ragged Robin in Godalming.
Central to the evening was a powerful talk by speaker Jonathan Griffiths – his subject was all about what it takes to be a brilliant human. We captured the talk in the video below, we hope you enjoy it.
