It’s been a busy time this Autumn in the Green Hub garden with the teens planting and harvesting all sorts of delicious and nutritious vegetables and fruits. One of them being the humble broccoli.
However, what most of us think of when we picture broccoli – the big, greenish-blue headed veg is actually Calabrese.
- Sprouting broccoli, which can be white or purple, is from the same family. These have a larger number of heads with many thin stalks.
- They are members of the large and varied brassica family along with cabbage, cauliflower, kale, and brussels sprouts.
- Popular as part of many hearty winter dishes and Sunday roasts, broccoli is packed full of nutrients and has a host of health benefits.
